Work-Life

Vicki
Hello, and welcome back to the employee spotlight. My name is Vicki Sonne, and I'm one of the Digital Project Strategists here at Remotish. Today we're talking to one of our newest employees Stephany Russell, and she is the Senior RevOps Coordinator. We're so excited to have you on board. Stephany, can you tell us a little bit about your role here at Remotish?

Stephany
Yes! Hi Vicki, I would love to. In my role as a RevOps Coordinator, I work closely with our Operations Manager to ensure that our team processes are documented in our wikis and followed correctly. I make sure our internal systems are organized and system ready for our team's use, as well as plan fun events for our team every quarter to enjoy one another and keep us engaged on a daily with one another.

Vicki
Awesome, awesome. Can you tell us a little bit about what your average day looks like?

Stephany
Yes, my days tend to run pretty smoothly depending on what's going on in the company that day. I spend some time preparing agendas for most of our internal team meetings that take place. I also spend a lot of time in Slack helping to engage and communicate with our team to make sure that everyone has all the information and answers they need to handle their roles correctly and effectively. We use Teamwork for our project management system, so I also do an audit of that every week just to make sure that all the work that our company is being moved along efficiently, and by the correct deadlines. Recently I've been doing a lot of systems training and onboarding for our newer employees, which all in all, means getting them ramped up and equipped for handling their new roles.

Vicki
I can say having just gone through the onboarding process, I appreciate all that you guys do, so well organized. It's great.

Stephany
Thank you, we try very hard!

Vicki
What is your favorite tool or favorite thing about HubSpot?

Stephany
So, my favorite part of HubSpot has always been the CRM and email features. In a prior coordinator role I had, I spent a lot of time cleaning up our CRM for our sales team, creating marketing emails whenever a new product was launched or we needed to send information to customers or get our sales team up to date. So in my new role, on top of those two, I'm starting to fall in love with workflow building. I never knew that a bunch of manual things that can be done within HubSpot can be automated. I think that's honestly the best feature and I'm excited to continue learning more about it.

Vicki
Workflows can be so powerful, it's crazy.

Stephany
Very. Literally, I've seen some of the client workflows and the stuff that they have got built out so it's a little intimidating but...

Life Life

Vicki
Okay, so switching gears just a little bit, we talked about work-life let's talk about life life. What's the best thing that you love about working remote, because here at Remotish, we were all passionate about working remote even before the pandemic.

Stephany
So before Remotish, I'd only worked remote for a temporary moment after being furloughed from my last position, but during my time here, and having flex time, being able to kind of work, when you want,  I've fallen in love with just being able to have more time with my family and for myself that I never got to experience before working nine hours in the office. Now I'm able to pick my daughter up from school at a reasonable time, and still have time to take her to her dance classes or extracurriculars, and being able to work in leggings and sweatpants, I do not miss playing dress up at all. It's so much easier to be comfortable.

Vicki
Right there with you! So, what blogs, podcasts, or groups, would you recommend to our readers and visitors, what are some of your favorites?

Stephany
There is one HubSpot podcast that I've been listening to it's called HubShots. It's these two guys from Australia, and they tell you everything HubSpot - like they'll give you new tips and for me being a beginner to HubSpot it's really nice to get an outside perspective from professionals without it being super work-related. They make it super casual and fun, but it's really interesting because I'm still learning about work with it.

Vicki
Excellent. I would love to go check that out, that sounds like a good one! Send me the links. Okay, what do you do when you're not HubSpotting for clients and can you tell us a little bit more about what you do when you're not wearing your Remotish hat?

Stephany
Yes, I am momming it up. My five-year-old daughter keeps me busy with her dance classes, she's in cheerleading as well now. I like to travel - I have family all over the US, so I like to go visit them when I'm able to have some time, as well as just going out and enjoying the weather. I live in South Florida so when it's not raining, I like to get outside, get some air, take my daughter to the park or go try a new restaurant. I'm getting into seafood lately so, I like trying new food.

Vicki
Awesome. I'll have to make a visit to Florida sometime, sounds wonderful. What is your personal model or mantra?

Stephany
So one model that always comes to me whenever I think of this is chances make champions. You will never know if you don't put yourself out there. You'll just never know. So just take a chance and then see what happens. Most of the time you will come out on top. As long as you know you got your head on straight and exactly what you want to do. But just take the chance because you never know what will happen.

Vicki
That's great, love that. What is your guilty pleasure?

Stephany
I gotta go with yours, junk food. I am like a candyholic and I try not to be actually. I just got my braces off after a long time a few months ago so I've fallen in love with everything that I couldn't eat like sticky candy and everything of the sort. Also, TV binging old TV shows from my childhood.

Vicki
Yes, love those and candy. Do you have a unique talent?

Stephany
I don't have anything unique or any weird talents that I can think of, unfortunately.

Vicki
You did say you did cheerleading?

Stephany
Yes, I was a cheerleader - actually, I am on an adult cheerleading team now, it's kind of funny. It runs along with my daughter's cheer program.

Vicki
Very cool and where do you live? You mentioned you live in Florida, but why did you choose Florida and what do you love about living there?

Stephany
Yes, I live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I actually am from Michigan, and my parents moved here when I was away in college. I really love the weather and not having to worry about what I'm wearing. There are also a lot of cool animals here that I've never seen before, like in Michigan we have ants and deers and stuff like that, here you have iguanas and lizards running around like crazy.

Vicki
Awesome, that concludes today's employee spotlight. I want to thank all of our listeners for tuning in and I want to throw out a huge thank you to Stephany for sharing her professional journey and fun facts with us today.
