Chiara

Hello, and welcome back to the employee spotlight. My name is Chiara. I am one of our project managers over at Remotish. And today we are talking to our newest employee, Loren Samuelson. Loren is our client services manager. And we are so excited to have her on board! So, Loren, can you tell us a little bit about your role at Remotish?

Loren

Yeah, sure. So basically, I'm helping to serve two types of people in unique and empowering ways. That's both our clients and the Remotish employees. My favorite thing about my role is that I get to work alongside our team, and helping to develop people. And then also, you know, improving our products and services that we're offering.

Chiara

Yeah, and that leads me into our next question, which is: What does an average workday look like for you?

Loren

So usually, I like to start my morning off with taking a look around LinkedIn just to catch anything new and interesting and do a bit of learning there. After that, I like to just cozy up at my desk with a giant cup of coffee to start my work day. And this is just my first week at Remotish.

So right now, my days are just packed full of learning everything possible, you know, trying to understand what our teams do and how everyone is serving our clients. So I've been able to jump into some of our team meetings with clients. And I'm already seeing how highly expert our team is in understanding everything about HubSpot; and then also how they can uniquely be partnering with our clients to help with their businesses and achieving their goals.

So overall, you know, my role is really about supporting both our teams internally, and then also making sure our clients are receiving excellent products and services.

Chiara

I love it. And what is your favorite thing about HubSpot?

Loren

HubSpot is such a powerful tool, you know, it really allows you to be creative with your solutions that may not come right out of the box. Most of my experience with HubSpot has been in creating new customer onboarding, with products and services in teams. So I would say my favorite product in HubSpot probably has to be workflows, just because they allow you to really create success and make life easier and more efficient for both your clients and your teams with automated processes.

Chiara

I second that -- workflows are are definitely my favorite. As someone who started in content, it just makes your life so much easier when that stuff can be automated. Switching gears a little what is the best thing about remote life?

Loren

Definitely that I get to work with my dogs and cat all day long. It's great to be at home and have you know, fun animals hanging out and being my co-workers all day. It's just really good also to not having to spend time driving to and from an office where I get to take that time. Get right into work, sit down at my desk and have that extra time. It's been really nice. I also can blast my music as loud as I want not have to worry about anyone else around me. So yeah, I really enjoy working remotely. I've been doing it for about three years now.

Chiara

Those were all great points. So are you a dog person and a cat person?

Loren

I am, I love them both for different reasons.

Chiara

That's awesome. And how many dogs do you have?

Loren

I have two. They're both rescues from Tijuana. And they are. Yeah, they're a fun little pair.

Chiara

I'm not sure if you've spoken to Kevin about this, but another team member also has like four rescue dogs from Mexico. So that's pretty cool. Moving right along: What blogs, podcasts, groups, etc. Would you recommend our readers/visitors follow?

Loren

This one's kind of maybe a little bit off the wall. But one of my favorite podcasts is called how I built this with Guy Raz from NPR. I really love one. Yeah, he you know, he talks to all kinds of entrepreneurs and innovators so that you kind of get the behind-the-scenes look of how companies got their start. And it's just fun, you know, like hearing like how they have solved a lot of their problems or challenges when they were getting started.

Life Life

Chiara

Yeah, that's awesome. Moving on to life life, we've talked a little bit about work life around remote ish. In terms of life life, what do you do when you are not have spotting for clients?

Loren

I try to get myself outside as much as possible. So I'm pretty active with hiking. There's a lot of unmarked trails, like a big system of trails that's all around my house. So anytime I can, I usually take my two giant dogs out there to go run around and you know, spend half the day just out on the trail and hopefully not bump And then to too many other people.

Chiara

Yeah, that sounds awesome. And what is your mission in life?

Loren

I would say to try and love the people that I love and do it really well. And just to love and respect everybody else.

Chiara

That's really profound. I love that! Great answer. And sort of related: What is your motto or personal mantra?

Loren

I think if you're steadily trying to improve yourself and the world that you're in, then hopefully it'll be better for everyone else, too.

Chiara

Yeah...as within so without. I'm all about it. And then, last question: What are your secret superpowers?

Loren

I guess my superpower would be just being a Jack of all Trades, and always wanting to try new things. I think I can pick stuff up pretty quickly. So you know, it kind of allows me to try a lot of different stuff.

Chiara

And I lied, that was actually the second to last question. So I've got one more for you. Where do you live, and why do you love it?

Loren

I live in San Diego, but I'm kind of on the outskirts in a town called Lakeside. I love San Diego just because I can be outdoor nearly all year round with beautiful weather. And you know, San Diego such a great spot for food and music. I guess when the world's more you know, at a normal place without COVID.

Chiara

Yeah, you have food, music, community, nature. San Diego has all it does. Wonderful. Well, thank you so much for joining us on the employee spotlight today and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your first week!
