Work Life

Chiara
Hello and welcome back to the employee spotlight. My name is Chiara and I am one of our senior digital project strategists at Remotish. Today we're talking to our newest employee, Georgi, and Georgi is our Implementation Specialist. We are so excited to have him on board. So Georgie, can you tell us a little bit about your role at Remotish?

Georgi
Hi, Chiara. Yeah, for sure. I'll tell you a little bit more about the role. So basically, I am doing work around all the hubs of HubSpot. Basically, I'm doing and executing some tasks inside of the Sales Hub, Marketing Hub, CMS Hub and Service Hub, of course. And now, of course, with the new Ops Hub, I'm going to do some tasks there. So basically, my role is a combination of technical tasks related to sales and marketing and service and some website tasks as well.

Chiara
Yeah, so you're like a behind the scenes Hubspot wizard. And what does an average work day look like for you?

Georgi
Yeah, well, usually, as you know, I'm in Europe, usually, my work day, would start in the afternoon. I am a big proponent of project management. And the first thing that I usually will do is check my tasks for the day and even for the week, so that I can really have a plan in my mind of what I'm doing first and what I'm doing next. So that I know what to prioritize, then I'm going into communication, internal and possiby external communication, if needed. And then I just start with my real work.

That's usually what the day would look like. And I like to have some kinds of those learning elements in my in my day. So usually I apportion, like at least an hour a day to learn, to watch some new courses, to read articles. And sometimes I even listen to podcasts as well.

Chiara
Wonderful. And I'm curious, as someone who spent so much time at HubSpot, what is your favorite thing about it?

Georgi
Yeah, so basically, if it's about the favorite thing, I wouldn't point out a specific feature. But more, I would say that, in fact, what I like about HubSpot is that it's a combination of, I believe, very essential, very important elements that every business needs nowadays, they have tried to put in one [software], almost all important two crucial processes when it comes to customer facing teams and not on the order revenue team. So I believe the power of HubSpot is namely that it many manages to encompass to put in one place everything that those revenue teams, those sales, marketing, service teams need in their in their workplace.

Life Life

Chiara
Yeah, that was almost a sales pitch. I completely agree. We love Hubspot. Okay, so switching gears a little we've talked a little about work life; let's talk about life life. What is the best thing to you about remote life? Because we were all passionate about it even before COVID.

Georgi
Yeah, well, as for remote work, I've tried. I've tried the usual regular work in the office, I've tried working remote as well. So I wouldn't hear I wouldn't say anything deviating from the standard, but just for me to be able to, like organize my day as I want to be able to really structure my things to be able really to to plan my things is really important because I really work when I feel most productive. And I have the time for everything else, including some other personal projects that I'm working on inside activities, doing sports and hearing some personal time to decompress, and sometimes to travel as well. So even I like working in different places. So being remote and working flexibly also allows you to do this.

Chiara
I think it's worked out really well because it sounds like you're a little bit of a night owl and then being in Europe, it just happens to line up with the rest of the team's waking hours. So it really did work out.

Georgi
Yes, exactly.

Chiara
You mentioned being a big fan of education. What blogs, podcasts, groups, what would you recommend our readers and visitors follow? What are some of your favorites?

Georgi
Yeah, so I will divide this into several branches First of all, and trying really to follow all the industry leading blogs of course on the floor. In first place I will place the HubSpot block, which I believe is great. But also I'm following some other blogs, for example, the Salesforce blog, the Marketo blog, as well. They're having really great insights as well. Apart from that. I'm really a great fan of one of the founders of HubSpot, Dharmesh. He has a great blog on entrepreneurship, startups, and I'm following his advice. And also, I'm following some industry leaders on social media, and watching their videos, reading their posts, and so on. So basically, those are like the things that I consume as professional content and also here in Europe, I am. I'm following several podcasts. They're not famous. They're they've been produced by some Bulgarian people, business people here, but I like find some interesting insights in them as well.

Chiara
Awesome, yeah it sounds like you have a full blown curriculum for yourself.

Georgi
Yeah, exactly.

Chiara
What do you do when you are not HubSpotting for clients? I think you mentioned some sports and travel. I know you're big into entrepreneurship. So tell us a little bit about what you do when you're not Remotish.

Georgi
Yeah, so basically, on the one hand, as you mentioned, intrapreneurship. So I'm really interested in this topic, I'm participating in different boot camps, taking different courses in entrepreneurship. I'm also developing some personal projects, as I mentioned. So currently, I'm in the process of developing one project about virtual reality.

So we are basically introducing it in the field of Dental Medicine for university students. So basically, they are going to be able to use virtual reality headsets in order to do their practical tutorials. And this will be really helpful if they, if they won't be able to go to the university, for example, to practice it physically. So this is one of the things that I'm working on currently.

And also, as I said, sports, currently, I'm more in fitness. But I am waiting for times to get better to just be able to do all sports possible as it was before COVID. So that I can try also some swimming, which I would really like to. And also I want to start dancing, I want to go on some, let's say Latin dance with my girlfriend. But that's also a project probably for the summer, when hopefully COVID will end.

Chiara
I'm curious: With your with your dental project. How did that come about? Like I imagine you didn't choose that particular industry. But there's very much in need for what you just described. So how did you come into that?

Georgi
Yep, in fact, it turns out, it's a great niche, because especially in Dental Medicine, and especially in medicine, when it comes to virtual reality. This technology is moving in with a much slower pace than let's say, in some other industries.

And it's interesting, because when we started, when we started one pre-acceleration program, it was just several people of us who were thinking -- who are developing an idea -- of a virtual reality laboratories. But we didn't have this focus of Dental Medicine. And then, in this pre-accelerator program, there was a lady who turns out to be a professor at one of the medical universities here.

And we found each other there. And she was the person who really managed to, like influence us to turn especially into this direction, because in fact, one of the ideas that she has been fighting for two years, was about gamification, education, and we just managed to combine those topics.

Chiara
Well, and gamification is like the future too, I feel like everything's swinging in that direction, especially with VR. So that's a really exciting kind of front line to be on that you are.

Georgi
Yeah, I also believe so. We are having some, like, they're not exactly competitions, but like, we're going to have more exposure in the next several months. So yeah, it's, we're going to see what is going to happen but it's good that we have the support of some greater organizations here some non governmental organizations and some companies who are mentoring because giving some advice, so yeah, I believe this is something that's really has potential.

Chiara
Very cool. You hear that clients? Get his autograph now!

Georgi
Sorry, I didn't understand?

Chiara
I was just making a joke telling them to get your autograph now because you're going to be famous. Next question, kind of on a related note, what is your mission in life?

Georgi
Well, if I need to formulate it in just several words, I would say to help people around me to grow and develop themselves with all the resources that I accumulate around myself.

Chiara
Oh, beautiful. I love that. And what is your motto or personal mantra?

Georgi
So recently, I've been thinking about that when I was creating my About Us page at Remotish. And because I have several, like quotations that I like most, but probably something that I'm really striving to achieve professionally and personally, is simplicity. And I believe that's very hard to achieve. So I would say that my motto here would be that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. If you manage to make it simple after it being so complicated, it means you have really understood what you're doing. And you've really got on the knack of it, I believe.

Chiara
Yeah, no, I completely agree. And the next question was, what are your secret superpowers? It sounds like one of yours is simplifying things.

Yeah, yeah. Well, really, probably people would say that who are, like more familiar with my character, but probably, I would say that one of [my superpowers] is the ability to communicate with people from very different backgrounds, who have very different stories, who have very different approaches and ways towards communication. So I would say this one probably.

Chiara
I would say, a great, great superpower and a great life skill, especially for someone who wants to go into entrepreneurship, because you'll be working with all kinds of people from all over.

Georgi
Yeah, yeah, exactly.

Chiara
And then the last question is, where do you live? And why do you love it?

Georgi
I live in the biggest city of Bulgaria, which is also the capital, it's called Sofia. But I was born in the second biggest city of Bulgaria: Plovdiv. And those two cities are very different. In fact, Sofia is the more like, professionally oriented place where a lot of people go to develop their careers, whereas Plovdiv is the place where it's like, a combination of culture, great places, again, many of them connected to culture, great theatres, great nature. So it's more for like, fun and leisure activities.

And the combination of those two cities -- which are not far away from one another -- it's really great for me, and also it's good that Bulgaria is a small country, and traveling to the seaside is not doesn't take much as well, it takes you several hours. So combining my favorite two biggest cities and the seaside is the perfect way to live. At least here in Bulgaria.

Chiara
Yeah, that's so nice, because then you've got like all the hustle and bustle and interest of the city, but you can actually get away from it because you've got the ocean.

Georgi
Exactly, yeah.

Chiara
Well, thank you so much for joining us on the employee spotlight today and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week.

Georgi
Thank you very much Chiara. Have nice week, too.
