Remotish Employee Spotlight: Adam Stahl

Remotish's Employee Spotlight series introduces one employee at a time for a quick conversation about HubSpot and life outside of our roles. Today, we would like to introduce a new addition to our Client Services team: Adam Stahl.

Hello and welcome to the Employee Spotlight. My name is Stephany Russell, and I am the Senior RevOps Coordinator here at Remotish. Today, we're talking to one of our new employees, Adam Stahl, one of our newest Digital Project Strategists. We are super excited to have him on board, Adam. Can you tell us a bit about your role here at Remotish?

Adam
Hi Stephany, thanks for having me. So, as a Digital Project Strategist at Remotish, one of my main roles is ensuring that my clients are sticking to things like project deadlines, task timelines, budget considerations, and I also help them strategize ways for them to carry out their projects, goals, needs, and desires from, kind of like dreaming it up in their heads to something concrete on paper and then to the delivery and beyond.

Stephany
Cool! So, I know that we have three divisions that our clients fall under - we have Monthly RevOps Service, HubSpot Onboarding Projects, and WebOps. Which division do all of your clients fall under?

Adam
Right now, many of the clients that I'm helping fall under either the RevOps or WebOps category. I am leaning more towards the WebOps space now. So, I do have some experience in that realm. And so, it seems as though maybe it's just a natural fit.

Stephany
That's cool. So, what does an average workday look like for you?

Adam
Sure. So, an average workday there is ensuring and checking in on those moving pieces for clients. Depending on where they are, they're all at different stages; if I'm onboarding, it's a bit more structured progress forward or process on major headlines and deadlines there. In ongoing relationships, they all have different needs, wants, goals, and desires that they're looking to carry out. Part of that is staying in front of all parties and staying ahead of any hiccups or roadblocks. A lot of it is also preparing for meeting with folks face to face getting those impulsive project check-ins. And then, especially at Remotish, closing it out with some education because education is so important, as I am working through my HubSpot certifications.

Stephany
Knowledge is power! So, other than project managing, do you find yourself working in HubSpot doing a lot of technical stuff, or do you leave that to our HubSpot Strategists?

Adam
So in my case, at least since I have started, I have been doing a fair amount of implementation work. I've been in HubSpot for about seven years now, roughly. I have experience with it so if it's something that I can iron out quickly, it can be handled. We're very involved over here at Remotish, especially with our clients and our Strategists digging in and helping them untangle some of their more complicated knots, figuratively. So, yeah, I do jump in now and again, especially for those low or medium tiers asks. Still, the HubSpot Strategists have that deep knowledge where they can unravel even the most complex-looking goals or challenges.

Stephany
Nice, nice to know! So, what is your favorite HubSpot tool or your favorite thing about it? You said you've been using HubSpot for seven years? Tell us more about that. 

Adam
Something that always has stuck with me about HubSpot would technically fall under the Marketing Hub, but I guess the CMS Hub would also. I remember the first time I got my first, real, full conversion in HubSpot, where we sent someone an email campaign. This was when HubSpot was looking into a lot of other information that they don't necessarily dig into any more for many reasons. We discovered that this client was speaking with us about one topic during the day but went home and looked into completely different products of ours they were not talking about, and downloaded white papers, brochures, and PDFs. So, we can build out their story, and this is like our first major; I'll call it SQL conversion. I am interested in realizing you can see all that data, things like that, but seeing that whole customer story and experience and being able to picture it was that first "wow" moment for me with HubSpot, and I've been hooked ever since.

Life-Life

Stephany
Super cool! All right, so enough about work. We've talked a lot about work-life, let's talk about your life life. What is the best thing to you about remote life, because even before COVID and the pandemic that kept us all in the house over the past couple of years, Remotish was always passionate about it.

Adam
That's something I've always enjoyed as well. I've worked remotely before joining Remotish, and something I've always enjoyed is that with remote work, there aren't as many barriers that you find with traditional work where you're blocking out time to like be in the office from X to Y and like that's what you're doing. Something I appreciate is being able to take my hypothetical lunch break to do the dishes or do laundry if that works as that level of flexibility is huge for me, especially with a young daughter. I've appreciated it because that's how I got started working remotely initially was I had a family health emergency at home in my immediate family about ten years ago now. It was a relief because I was able to do great work for the company I was at while still being able to take care of that family member who was going through a difficult time.

Stephany
That is beautiful, being able to be flexible and having an employer that cares about your life outside of what you do for them. Do you listen to any blogs or podcasts or any groups that you would recommend our readers and visitors to follow? Share your favorites with us.

Adam
Sure. So when it comes to podcasts, I tend not to listen to work-related podcasts. Podcasts tend to be my kind of entertainment or a way to wind down. However, some folks I like to follow, for example, are Liz Moorehead. If you do anything with content, and you're writing, and you're not following her, I 100% recommend following her at least on LinkedIn. The insights she offers are engaging and have sparked my passion for digital marketing and writing great content and copy for visitors and leads. In addition, Ann Handley and Marcus Sheridan, are awesome follows especially when I was in more of an all-around marketing role.

Stephany
I need to go look up some of those people. So when you're not Hubspotting for our clients, tell us a bit of what you do when you're not wearing your Remotish hat.

Adam
Sure, I mentioned that I am a father of a young daughter, so that speaks to most of my time, but enjoyably. Outside of that, I video game a lot with my friends. That's my way of keeping in touch with them as we're scattered across most of New England. So that's something we've been doing; meeting up at least once a week since we were in college. As well as tabletop gaming, like Dungeons and Dragons, Deadlands, Monster of the Week, stuff like that. I run games and play them both in person and virtually; that's something I've done for a while. Also, along with many other folks during the pandemic, I dug a lot deeper into baking. It was big in my family growing up between my mom and my nana, so it's something I was pleased to pick up again. It's also fun to do with my daughter as well, something I can hopefully pass on.

Stephany
Cute! What's your favorite thing to bake with your daughter or in general?

Adam
Desserts are my favorites. There's just something special about them. I find that right now, compared to cooking, my cooking skills aren't as good. That's not to say I'm great at baking or cooking. I just feel like there's a bit of science to the art of baking to some degree. Don't get me wrong, there's loads of art in baking, but there's a degree of predictability about things like the temperature, ingredients, and so on. With a little one, just being able to say, "Oh, we're measuring," whatever ingredient, and then she helps measure things out and allows her to be a little more independent in the process. Several of my mom's recipes and cookbooks have been passed to me, so I am working through them. The handwritten notes on the sides of the books are lovely, too.

Stephany
Nice theory! I love my grandma's cookbooks as well. Do you have any personal mottos or mantras?

Adam
Something that has always resonated with me is the concept or idea that you begin moving a mountain by first carrying away small stones. There have been points in my life where, looking up, the tasks before me seemed like giant, insurmountable mountains. But, being reminded to break those mountains down into more manageable pieces is how people get things done. When you think about factories and how these things get made or built, they started carrying away a tiny figurative stone and chipped away. Before you know it, the mountains are moved.

Do you have any guilty pleasures?

Adam
Well, that would imply that I feel guilty about this, but I still get hyped when the ice cream truck comes around the neighborhood like, I go running. Yes, there will always be extra cash in my pocket or my wallet in the summer because I know there's a possibility there may be an ice cream truck coming around.

Stephany
That's super cute, and I feel bad because ever since I've moved to Florida, I have not seen an ice cream truck and feel bad for my daughter because she'll never get the butterflies inside of hearing the "Hello" jingle and everything. What about talents, do you have any unique talents?

Adam
Oh, man. So, as far as talents go, I don't know that I have any unique skills, but things I would say things that are unique to me are that I took glassblowing for a college course. I don't have a great-looking catalog of work, but it's something that one wouldn't expect by looking at me. But that was a valuable experience for me. Something else I enjoyed was being a play-by-play, commentary, and public address announcer for the athletics department. Voice work is something that has always been an interest of mine. It was always fun for me to have the opportunity to be "the voice" of certain sports arenas around campus and to provide commentary for games; helping to showcase the performances of all these fantastic people.

Nice, you do have a sportscaster's voice, I can hear it. So, the last question. Where do you live and why do you love living there? Tell us a little more about that.

Adam
Where do I live? I currently reside in Hebron, Connecticut, which is small and somewhat more rural than some of the other areas I've been in. Still, I grew up in a small town in northern New Jersey. So, when I moved to Connecticut and decided to settle down, I wanted something similar to my hometown with a similar vibe.
